Auction For Japan

Auction For Japan is a group of like-minded people on Facebook who have got together and donated items to be auctioned in aid of the people of Japan. All money raised will be donated to ShelterBox and The Red Cross. There is a diverse range of items available including: handmade furniture; original paintings & prints; clothing & costume; jewellery; home furnishings. It's a great way to show your support for the relief efforts for Japan and to acquire something for yourself in aid of a good cause.

There are 3 Vaudeville Gypsy items in the auction: Black Lace Gauntlets; Black Gypsy Twist Skirt; Vintage Glass Pearl Bracelet, all pictured below. I have decided not to enter a minimum bid so you could get a real bargain whilst helping people in need. All you need to do to bid is go to the photo album Auction For Japan Lots and enter your bid in the comment box below the item you want to buy.

New Gypsy Twist Skirt Design Completed for ArtFire

I finally have gotten round to finishing, photographing and listing my new skirt design at Vaudeville Gypsy. I'm so pleased with how it's turned out. It really has a gorgeous shape when worn, is extremely flattering and moves beautifully. I wish I had been able to get more of this printed fabric but this is going to be a complete one off with this combination of elements. I think I've achieved a good balance in fusing style elements from Victorian/Edwardian and early 1920s Flappers. It's asymmetrical, ruched, gathered, swagged and made with lots of love! One side is open to thigh high to allow ease of movement when dancing. I hope you like it!

This Weeks Featured Artisan

Arrggghh, I'm a little late with keeping up with things at the moment. We're going to be moving in a few weeks so life is taking a hectic turn. Blog posts may be few and far between, or I'll post a few in a short blast of action when I get time!

Anyhow, here is this weeks featured Artisan from On Fire For Handmade. I particularly like her hand knitted work, especially the ponchos. I'm a poncho fan, I freely admit it ;-) She uses a wide variety of yarns including eyelash, ribbon and mosaic, and even a bit of fun fur sometimes, so they are one of a kind!
